Sheet Metal Tray

For this project, we used vinyl-clad aluminum sheet metal which is reasonably easy to work with because of its “combination of strength, low weight, and corrosion resistance”. The material is also cheap and fully recyclable (Lefteri, 174). This project allowed us to gain experience with metalworking and using metal fabricating tools. For the handle, we had a choice between wood and sheet metal. I decided to create the handle out of sheet metal as well because I thought it looked better as one uniform material and the design of the handle created extra storage for smaller items.

Utilized: Hand shear, corner shear, hand punch, box & pan brake, adjustable brake, hand seamer, pop rivet gun.
